If I could give 0 stars I would! Pre-ordered a collectors figure over a year and a half ago. I waited patiently through manufacturer delays and then the Tokyo Otaku Mode delays due to COVID-19. Got contacted asking for an extra $50USD to ship my item and agreed to send the increase to get my collectors item. The figure was shipped with the documentation incorrectly filled out so customs rejected the item entry into my country. I asked Tokyo Otaku Mode to reship the figure but they claimed they are not able to reship items?

Since then I have been in a long debate via email and twitter with the company. The company is publicly lying on twitter making claims that they "would manually reship the figure" but then saying in email they cannot do that. They tried to push their "premium subscription" service on me in the middle of this all. They also have accused me of refusing the package when tracking clearly shows the closest city the item made it to in relation to where I live still had an ocean between it and my city. They also have tried to lie claiming I only paid $10 in shipping when I paid the $10 AND the additional $50, and it was the same agent who charged me the additional shipping fee who claimed I only paid $10. They still have 100% of my funds and are withholding my item. As a result I will have to research the legal options available to me and have opened a formal dispute via paypal against this company. The collectors item is long sold out and can no longer be replaced.

Avoid them at all costs for your purchases. I have never had a company lie and treat me so horribly.

Don’t give TOM the opportunity

I’ve ordered a few anime figures from TOM in the past and up until recently, but man has the quality of this site gone down significantly. Their shipping and points policies are ridiculous. Having items needing to be releasing on the same month to count for their reduced shipping fee when prior to this change it was your entire order needed to reach the amount regardless of ship date. TOM points now can only be applied to a maximum of 20% for non premium members and 50% of the orders total for members of their abysmal premium service is laughable at best. With every figure I’ve recently ordered it’s been a constant struggle for it to ship. Waiting past their shipping window, contacting customer support about the order, them giving the generic response of, “it’ll ship very soon”. To then be waiting another week for the item not ship and for this entire egregious process to repeat until it ships. On top of this they overprice their figures by a ridiculous amount to the point where it’s a lot cheaper just to import the figure off of Amazon Japan. Their only redeeming value is that they debit you immediately upon purchase. Honestly, if you respect your time and money take your business elsewhere.

Crappy Shipping Policies

I’m quite annoyed with their shipping policies. As you may know, EMS shipping to the US was stopped for a long time. I had some preordered figures that I paid extra to ship EMS during this time. They changed my shipping method to surface mail, and did not offer me refunds for the price I paid for EMS. Surface mail literally took months, so I don’t think it was an equivalent exchange. They should’ve just changed my orders to Fedex/DHL/UPS, or refunded me.

So far no problem
I’ve purchased 3 times form this store.
The price might be higher than other sites, but they offer free shipping.
I get why some people think the prices are too expensive, because they have this premium membership thing. But it can save you money if you purchases lot of times.

the good greatly outweigh the bad

I had to sign up to the tom points for free to get my items for a good price and cancel before they started to charge me. but I have never had an item not delivered or delivered in bad condition in the 5 to 7 years I've been ordering from them. my figure came in over 2 months but the whole time everytime I emailed them they would respond in less than 24 hours and reassure me, the explained items are delivered via ship instead of plane during covid. the box my item was it was beaten up and corners crumpled in but my item untouched from all the padding they use. my miku is genuine and in perfect condition, not even mark on her box and I am still waiting for a pre order which good smile has pushed back the date but I trust TOM to give me updates and make sure it gets to me too.

Used to be justifiable in their ridiculously inflated prices given their TOM points system, now the restriction on points able to be spent renders the company not worth buying from. They are shamelessly money gouging and charging upwards of $250+ for a 1/7 scale but hey, at least that’s $10 worth of points you can’t spend! They also ran out of stock of a figure I purchased months before and neglected to tell me until I asked. So that money was gone from my bank account for a very long time. They’re also charging $100 shipping because of COVID on all my preorders. Very greedy company, just want the figures I preordered and then I’m never buying from them again.

Not only as store, but as a Company is awful.

Regardless about the buying, not sure how bad is it.
But a backed a project regarding of Sharin no Kuni game, the game was promised to be released in October 2017, and now Febrary 2021 still nothing about it, the Company gave a last update 10 months ago, the company Tokyo Otaku Mode is a mess in general.

Good Figures, Bad Service

Pro: They stock a lot of figures and do a lot of pre-orders for new figures. Items arrive well packed and not damaged.
Cons: They are much more expensive than the retail price. All items come out on sale but that sale price is marked up. The more expensive the item, the more markup. Amiami and other sites sell at retail price. Also, they take forever to ship items. I don't mean shipping international is slow based on method, I mean on average from the time you order or an item comes in stock, it's like a month before they even get to shipping it. They are very disorganized when it comes to orders, consolidating shipping, or systematizing pre-orders or changes. I've had to send multiple emails trying to ask why they ship single items one at a time on the same order with the same release month and got back "it's because only one item was in stock at the time". If they could work on their service the over price premium might be worth it to buy from them.

They tried to use my old credit card to charge $1, it was declined of course, but they are sneaky and try to take a $1 here and there and hope nobody notices. BE AWARE!

False Advertising

Bought a keychain that they claimed to be free, ended up being over $20 because of shipping and other hidden fees that I did not see until I reviewed the receipt emailed to me after the purchase.
They also have a terrible mobile site that’s difficult to navigate and view your purchases. When I logged onto my computer, I found out they wouldn’t let me cancel my preorders. When I bought the keychain, it said nothing about being unable to cancel. DO NOT PREORDER FROM THIS SITE THEY ARE SCAMMERS

False Advertising

Bought a keychain that was supposed to be free, ended up being more than $20 thanks to shipping and other fees they didn't include on the receipt until after I bought it.

They also do not let you cancel your preorders which they do not say.

Would also give 0 stars if I could do not bother buying from TOM save your money and go to a different site.
